Backcountry weather radio?

What do you guys use to get weather reports in the Backcountry.....assuming no cell service. Is a basic Midland radio all you need? Do they make affordable two way communication radios and weather radio combined that are worth having?

I get some folks use the Garmin rhino. But I already have GPS. Just curious what portable noaa radios you find reliable and like.

I have an old NOAA radio I got from radial crack...still works. Like my old portable am radio.
Also have Weather Channel one with NOAA /AM/FM/SW...lights, bells & whistles ...including a emergency charging crank.

Most weather radios won't work in the back country due to low power freq. the weather stations are on.
Better off to watch the sky, know your clouds and so forth.
Or do like us old farts do, listen to your joints. LOL

LOL, I do have an old Yorkie that starts to shake about 30 minutes before a storm arrives. Should fit in a side pocket on my pack quite nicely....lol

The weather here in Northwestern Wyoming never listens to the weather report. It just does whatever it wants, whenever it wants, as often as it wants.
I prepare for the worse and hope for the best.
