Unconfirmed: Dandy Wisconsin bull elk hit/killed by car near fort mccoy

Cant see the left side on this one but confirmed car kill a couple days ago by Warren's WI. Picture was from LEO.IMG957965.jpg

The right sides looks the same so I am pretty sure they are the same bull. Honestly with as close as that herd is to the interstate and other highways surprised it hasn't happened sooner.

Prime example of the challenges of putting elk back on the landscape East of the plains. There are so many roads running through the habitat. Losing one nice bull out of a herd of about 200 is tragic.

They also smash somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 whitetails each year. My step father accounts for at least 1.7 of those annually...

A long way from his intended area of Black River Falls. I had a cow cut through my land a couple years ago as she wandered up the river.

About the only way to get an elk in Wisconsin is to hit it with a car/truck or be an enrolled tribal member by the looks of things.
