I've been working out details for a trip to Prince of Wales Island driving from Washington State via the ferry out of Prince Rupert next August or the year after (if anyone has done this or is interested feel free to PM me). It occurred to me I'd be driving through a lot of great deer and steelhead country so I got to thinking about possibilities. I've always assumed US citizens can't hunt without a guide service in Canada but honestly I don't know where I came up with that. A quick google search indicates that self guided fishing is ok but self guided hunting is not. Is this correct? I'm just talking blacktails here, not moose or sheep. What about the flip side? Can Canadian citizens hunt in the US "on there own"?
