I found a steal on a DeLorme InReach Explorer on Ebay and had to jump on it. I would have preferred to get a Garmin but it's a little out of my price range at the moment, besides I already have a Garmin GPSmap 60SCx. Just curious as to whether any of my fellow HTers have had experience with the DeLorme and how well it worked. Brand new they run about $300 and I picked it up lightly used for $160 shipped.

I still have my old DeLorme SE and it works just fine.

Load the earth mate app on your phone and pair it up to your In-reach. Works great, you can download aerial maps for the earth mate app also before you head out.

Love my In-reach as my wife gets a daily message that I'm still kicking, and I know if theres anything going on with my parents.

I also enjoy the weather feature. It's nice to get the weather report within 12 feet of your location instead of the nearest town.

Right on! The seller said the unit is in excellent condition; if that's the case, is $162 shipped a good price or could I have got it cheaper?

Seems like a good price. I paid almost double that last year for mine. It hasn’t gotten any less capable with age.
