Was anyone else surprised by the information on lead bullets in this podcast? This issue was very interesting, and it made me think about the balance between conservation and hunting mindsets.
It seems like Randy and Chris Parish both are happy with lead-free bullets. I have never used them personally because I always think of the debate with duck hunting and steel shot. Most of my older friends and family say that lead shot is superior to steel when pursuing ducks, but I have never shot ducks with lead and have no comparison.
It seems the mindset of many hunters is that lead ammunition performs better and is most likely cheaper. If there were more information publicized that lead shot was harming animals, would we put conservation above our mindsets?
I may try out some lead free rifle ammo for deer next year!
