New Mexico Unit 30 Mule Deer Muzzleloader

My dad drew a Mule Deer Muzzleloader tag for Unit 30 in New Mexico this year and I am going along to help and share the experience. The season is October 20th-24th. From what I have been reading bucks are primarily nocturnal during this muzzleloader season. Does anyone have any advice on hunting Mule Deer during this season or advice on NM Unit 30?

It is a heavily hunted and roaded unit with many bucks being young fork-horned or similar. I have never hunted the muzzleloader or rifle seasons but I imagine the bucks are still not interested in does and will be hiding away. Hike away from the roads and you may start to spot bucks. Very little cell service exists throughout the unit so make sure you are prepared for emergencies. Most of all, have fun. It is a beautiful area.
