I like metal tips for the grip but its very noisy on the rocks. I agree with shaffe about sinking in. Do you guys use rubber? how do they perform?
I would warn against metal tips unless only for travelling. couple years ago had some guys in the same basin as me and both were using metal tips. I could tell you where they were almost the entire time they were using them, click clack on the rocks
