We had some beautiful weather this afternoon and a bit of spare time so my son and I took Ryder out in the old rowboat on the farm pond. Ryder has been practicing his casts and wanted to catch his first ever completely solo fish. The small bass were cooperative and after a couple of 'almosts,' he landed his first fish. I think he's hooked on fishing. The fish were small, but the smiles were trophies. Here are his first and biggest fish of the day. Afterwards he was bragging to his mom about how he had caught more fish than his dad and I did combined. In the account to his mom and grandma, the number of fish he landed had increased a little, along with a little growth in the size of his biggest fish - another natural fisherman.

Good times for sure! Proud grandpa and dad witnessing a milestone, and you were smart enough to memorialize it in film.

A new fisherman for life! It doesn't get much better than watching a kid catch his or her first fish.
