There are big bucks killed on the gen tag in Montana every year . Is the number less than it was ten or twenty years ago ? Sure , probably substantially less . But it happens every year . Everyone has a different idea of big also , to me when someone says a big muley I think of a deer in the 170 range . They are there but u have to work for them and have a little luck also .

True.....and almost all of them are killed on private land.

8andcounting, when you deer hunt in Montana, are you guys hunting private lands or public lands? I'm curious what lands you are seeing/killing 170 inch plus mule deer on with general tags over the last 10 years.

Private - probably killed 1 that might touch 170. I see your point and I agree Blake , there are big deer killed but like u said mostly on private
