Had a great 2017 fall archery season. It started opening weekend in MN. The first night, I had a small buck and doe come through. I had a management tag and even though the doe was on the small side, I decided to fill it. It helped that she didn’t have a fawn with, because I have reservations on taking a doe in the early season with a fawn.
A week later I hunted NW SD and saw several nice deer. The only one I got close to was a fairly wide 2x2. I stalked the last 60 yds in socks and got within 15 and took some pics. After he finally winded me, I found an awesome elk shed.
Last week in October, I hunted MN again. I ended up with a decent buck. I heard a grunt and grunted back. He ended showing up a few minutes later and presented a shot I couldn’t refuse. I feel fortunate to have a great season with my limited time available to hunt.
