Spent last week hunting tahr in the South Island. Had a great time. No really big bulls seen but shot a couple of 12 inch bulls that I took for the skins, meat and horns. Here are some iPhone photos, sorry didn't really seem like I had time to take good photos.

Super!!! Still near the top of my bucket list. Just need to get the finances to agree with that list. ;)

Amazing place you live and hunt, it looks tough hunting though, young man's game?

I can't believe my best friends son is still there, and he doesn't hunt!
Mind you he is having a great time even the fishing season is over, he has found some work in a micro brewery in Marlborough, paid in money and beer!

Cheers

Richard

good man,,are you going to keep the skin and head as one,,always thought it would be a neat way for a tahr to be displayed

Thanks for the comments.

Richard it helps to be young but I have to make do with fitness :)

Les, I did consider it but decided to flat skin them both and euro mount the skulls. When I get a big tahr I may make a rug with the head on. I have a black bear being done now as a rug with the head on.

Kiwi hunter that should be your signature, 'just do it'!
Might just do that one day, but NZ is such a long way, and I hate flying with a passion!
However, Montana I can just about cope with the longish flight.
But a Tahr in NZ is on my bucket list.

Cheers
Richard
