Hey Everyone

Drew a mule deer tag for New Mexico Unit 45 at the end of September, Muzzleloader. Hunted around the area before and have driven through but havent hunted 45 yet. Any info on tips, be prepared for, should do's, shouldn't do, would be appreciated.

Thank you

Hung my tag on a muzzleloader bull in 2015 in 45 during the first week of Oct. Hiked in 5.5 miles from Jacks Creek trailhead into the wilderness. Honestly we didn't see any mule deer during our 4 days in. Cows are allowed in there ( usually they are rounded up by then) and we had some cowboys riding around trying to find a lost herd.

We never saw another person except for right on the trail. Alot of people will dayhike up to Pecos Baldy as the colors are outstanding that time of year.

Expect temps in the lower 30's at night and up to high 60's during the day.

Don't be afraid to contact the Wildlife Officer(s) for that area. I know a few of them and they will give you good intel or point you in the right direction.
