I am going hunting in Montana this fall and I want to get some trekking poles. I have never used them before and am looking for recommendations. I like the weight and durability of carbon but wonder about the strength compared to aluminum. I am looking at getting collapsible with the locking clip. Any help would be great. Thanks.

I have snapped a pair of carbon trekking poles, but it likely spared me a broken leg (stopped a rock rolling downhill in some super steep terrain that a friend had kicked down at me). That being said, I have continued using the same pair of black diamond carbon trekking poles since (6-7 years), I just make the lower section a little shorter and the top section stays near the 'max' line, and it's the perfect height. Now that I've been using carbon poles for almost 10 years, there's no way I'd go back. I've bent and purchased new aluminum ski poles twice in the meanwhile...
