So I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole today and started learning about South American deer. I had no idea there were so many species of deer(17!) native to that continent. Some of them even have impressive antlers (the huemel pampas, and Marsh deer). Sure, there are tons of imported game animals but I'm only interested in the native deer.

Sadly, many of these deer species are vulnerable, endangered, or near threatened due to habitat loss. Makes me thankful for the abundance we have an North America. Also reminds me of how important it is to save habitat. Hopefully one day South American will have readily huntable populations of these deer once again.
