Was planning on doing a few spring black bear hunts over in the Tobacco roots to get familiar with it for when elk season rolls around. I have been trying to research if the elk and black bear population is more abundant on the south or north side. I have heard good things about the bull elk numbers in deerlodge but i have not stepped foot in either unit. Thanks for any tips! I have no problem getting away from roads and hiking in a ways but i am looking for areas with easier elevation due to my heart condition.
