  1. Default Western OK WMAs..4x4?

Is a four wheel drive advisable for hunting the WMAs in Western Oklahoma, or will a two wheel drive be fine?

You'll be fine with two wheel drive just be careful if there's any heavy rain.

I would be careful about what two track roads I went down with just two wheel drive. Some of them are very sandy soil that even when dry you can get stuck. Most of the designated parking areas have pretty good roads going to them.

If you're planning on black kettle specifically and it rains, 2wd would be useless. You'll never get that red dirt out of all the nook and crannies, I can't even imagine how many pounds accumulated on my truck last yr.

Thanks. If I have to rent a 4x4, I might as well take that money and call it a discount on a guided trip. Black Kettle looks like it'd have the most birds, but they'd have to be some educated birds with all the internet chatter about hunting there.
