I have a Ruger #1, .257 ackley improved that may need a new barrel. I’m looking for a good gunsmith that could do that? My gunsmith passed away. I may not keep the improved and go with a straight.257 Roberts. Thanks for suggestions

Does outstanding work on Ruger #1

Damon Wrampe in Butte Mt. Nemesis Machine on Facebook. He works in the oil fields so he heads that way every couple weeks.

PM Brockel....the smith who wrenched my Mashburn, as I recall, is from your neck of the woods. That #1 is definitely worth rejuvenation.

Any competent smith should be able to re-barrel that #1.

I've used Dennis Erhardt with Frontier Gunshop in Helena for a couple of re-barrel jobs and have never had an issue with his work. Both barrels he's done produce sub-MOA groups.

A casing blew out the side and grooved the barrel pretty badly. So we are checking into cutting it down and re-reaming it, rebarreling. Looking at all options.

Dennis Olson, Plains Mt. Has worked on several of Dads old rifles with superb results. Dont know him personally but have seen the results of his work. Excellent
