Yesterday was a perfect Fall day in E. Oregon. Ranger and I took off from the house to look for some quail. We got into them pretty fast and put a few in the bag. We also lucked into a rooster which doesn't happen very often for us. We went up high where we always find chukar but found no sign of any. Last winter all but wiped them out in spots that I have hunted them for years. A really good day!

I'm guessing that's your place in the fourth photo? In many areas you'd have to use a drone to get an aerial photo like that, those hills sure are big and steep. Congratulations to you and Ranger on the birds.

A little bit whiter here in LaGrande.....looks like you're on the Powder, beautiful spot....we need a mild winter this year to get the bird numbers back up. I remember as a kid, Richland, Baker, Ontario all had many more Pheasants than now. Congrats on connecting with a nice rooster.

The prediction is for a milder winter. Hope we get a lot up high but not so much on the valley floor. You're right about the pheasants back then. I wasn't here then but the guys talk about getting them by the sackful. There's more in the valley this year than recent years. Down on the Powder I only get one or two a year.
