So I posted about our families success here at home earlier this week, and some of you may remember my thread about Hadley and his first deer last year. Well we got to go out on the other night, I picked him up early from school and he thought we were taking my buck to the taxidermist, I said no we are going hunting. It was supposed to be very warm and windy the next day so I decided to hunt that night and go to the taxi the next day. We saw deer in the field when we parked the truck and had does under the stand when we got close, we had to sneak in and he said I’ll shoot one dad. I told him it was his tag but if he killed another doe he wouldn’t be able to shoot a buck and he wanted a buck. We got into the stand and had sat for about 30 min and out pops a buck, I rattled and he came into about 120 yards, and had his head behind a cedar tree quartering away, we got him set and I said shoot when your comfortable and the gun went off about 5 seconds later, the deer went about 5 yards and tipped over. He hit it taking out the liver and one lung awesome shot for an almost 8 year old. He is I think a better shot than his older brothers were at his age. He was so excited he wanted to get down but we waited for a few minutes and then snuck up and there he lay deader than disco. We saved the heart and ate it a first for both of us but delicious, he was unsure at first but after a bite asked for more. Here are a couple pics some sorry if they are sideways.!
