Not necessarily limited to these two brands, just the ones I've been looking at the most recently. If you had your choice between a swaro 20-60×65 non hd and 2017 new style vortex, Id probably go the middle option 22-48×65hd, what do you guys think you'd go with and why?

I would go Swaro. Mine continues to amaze me every time I put my eye to it. If you want the 65 to be a little better look at the 25-50 eyepiece for it. That would be all you ever need.

I'll never be able to afford Swaro. I have yet to be disappointed with my Vortex. I don't have the new 2017 models, but have played with them. As for the actual size, their all in the same class and I don't think you'll need anything bigger.

I'd never be able to afford the swaro either ha ha, at least new, I'd be picking up a used one

Buy a used Swaro. I bought a year old ATS 65 HD for $1,500 this summer. Amazing.
