I posted a number of weeks ago that I was going to Montana for my first ever mule deer hunt. Was quite excited to go but somewhat unsure of how it would work out. Having always hunted whitetail out of a blind or treestand. Hunt was done in the Missouri breaks area. Had a few guys along that new the area so that helped a lot. Shot my buck on the 3rd full day of hunting. Saw tons of deer but it took a while to find a nice 4x4. My buddy Dan was with me when we spotted him and some does on a hillside. Took a while to stalk within range. Shot him at 330 yds with 270. Was a nice 3 mile pack out to the truck. Was a fantastic hunt with some great friends. Can't wait to go back. Also, thanks to everyone on here for all the information that gets shared on here for us newbies. I think I may b hooked on this kind of hunting.

Good for you for taking the initiative to get out there and try a new hunt; success feels good.

Definitely different than sitting in a stand! Glad you had a good trip and congratulations on a nice buck!

yep looks like a job well done, the pack out is the best part, when you finally get to the truck :)
