Well I got my 2017 Idaho late season bull last week! This was actually my first bull, so I'm pretty stoked about it! He was the largest in a group of 20 bulls. Took him at 600 with the trusty 6.5 creedmoor.

Dandy bull. Fantastic first bull. Freakishly good shot in my opinion. Curious what scope you are running? I had several bulls in a herd at that distance earlier this season and tried to get closer and of course they spooked.

Thanks, I appreciate it! I've got the Vortex Copperhead 4-12X44 on it. Yeah I would have taken a closer shot, but they were about ready to run out of the country already at 600 yards.

Congrats, Glad to see another Idaho guy connecting. With a 6.5 also love it. I picked up a 6.5 for deer this year and can’t shoot it enough

I agree. I thought 400 yrds would probably be the maximum you would want to try for an elk with a 6.5. Maybe I will have to look at the ballistics again.

It is definitely a long shot with a 6.5 for elk. Honestly it was pushing it and I knew that. Had I not have had a good rest and a nice scope which I trusted, I would definitely not have taken the shot. I personally would agree that 400 should normally be the max for elk with a creedmoor.
