Going Cow/Calf elk hunting in WY unit 6. I got a couple specific places in mind I'm going to try. If there's a local or someone who's been there before who can send me a PM-- I'd like to find out how realistic my expectations are for the road conditions and hunting pressure in those areas. I was NOT prepared for the roads in other units I've been to. Thanks for any help!

Are you talking about the north end of 6? I also have a 6 cow/calf tag

Based off the fact I don't believe you can hunt n.f.s. land, it's not going to be easy if you don't have private access. But no shame in trying. If you have onxmaps you should be able to find the few accessible state sections and blm pockets.

If you don't have access to private ground, good luck... Very little public access, a lot of the BLM and state areas are land locked by private. You cannot hunt the National Forest with a general or type 6 tags. There's a reason that there is still almost 500 tags left over for that area.
