Hi guys, so during archery season, I found a nice 6x7 bull deadhead. It had to have been dead since last fall or winter, as nearly all of the meat was gone. However, there is still some skin left on the skull and the pedicles. What are your guys' best ways to get this excess skin off, along with the dirt/junk left inside of the skull out of there? Looking to hang it on the wall, so I would like it to look clean.

Thanks!

Pry off the skin and either sand off the rest or use a grinder with a wire wheel. I'd paint the skull white so it looks fresh.

You can soak it in water until it softens up. Then boil or scrape it off. Fair warning though, it smells REALLY bad while it's rehydrating.

Check out whitebone creations on Youtube. He has a few videos on deadheads that are well detailed.

Get dishsoap and borax and boil and then scrape. Randy has a video on youtube.
Then color them after you're done. And if you don't want to do it and live in utah by chance I could do it for you.
I've done 4 of them in the last couple weeks and they turned out awesome.
