Well, I've been an avid hunter, fisherman, backpacker and general outdoor enthusiast for over 30 years. Last year I went on my first elk hunt in Colorado. I am hooked! I was unable to go this year but from next year on.....it's on! I have always loved the mountains and just being in the back country. I actually looked at some property on my way back from the hunt last year and bought it! I am looking forward to building the cabin and having a base of operations for elk season every year, and to retire there!
Really looking forward to seeing what kind of opportunities there in a new OTC unit in the south. I have been doing what Randy suggests with onX and google earth scouting and just trying to gauge where the elk will be when the other hunters start flooding in.....and there's no way of knowing how many hunters end up in there and just how crowded it gets.
