Congrats to the winners, that's some bitching gear!

It's a grim story, but I finally got a chance to use this new toy. The carbon tri-pod and the DH101 head make this a really sweet setup.

Yesterday an out-of-bounds skier triggered an avalanche at the upper red circle. He was carried down to the lower red circle and buried fatally. This is Saddle Peak, and people regularly hike to it from Bridger Bowl, which is to the north (right).




I used the new scope to get a closer look this morning. It is pretty amazing... the dark arc in the center is where the avalanche broke (the crown). I'm not sure what caused that narrow path on the right - it looks like someone knocked a cornice off and it tumbled off.
