I have always used electrical tape over the muzzle to keep out rain or debris. Now I have a muzzle brake on my rifle. Will the tape affect how a muzzle brake works? Should have tried it at the shooting range but now I am out of time to do that.

Also, not too interested in comments about brakes from those who are not a fan... it works for me.

Tape wont effect a brake.

When a bullet goes down the bore it pushes a column of air ahead of it, this column of air pushes the tape away from the orifices. By the time the bullet exits the bore the tape is gone.

You can also get finger cots, think mini condoms. They are at Wal-Mart in first aid. I use them on my shotgun mainly as the best duck hunting is when it's pouring. Rolling on another after a volley is easy .

OK but now I want tell you why you should not use a muzzle brake. First .... LOL

Agree on the tape and agree more on the opinion projecting thing.

Thanks all. I know people are against brakes but it has helped me out on a magnum caliber. Some don't need it. That's great... they are tougher than me and that's just fine.
