I thought I would share a photo of the bear I was able to harvest in mid-September. This was my first bear. Harvested in Colorado, total spot and stalk. This was a public land solo hunt. I was very lucky to have stumbled upon this guy on my first morning out. I spotted him from the trail I was slowly moving along. I watched him for close to two hours before he presented a shot. He was moving in and out of an oakbrush thicket. I’d catch a glimpse of him then he’d disappear.
One shot at about 100 yards and he crumpled. I used a Savage 11 chambered in .260 Rem. The load was a 140 grain Nosler Accubond over 46.5 grains of IMR 7828.
