Public Lands from a different perspective - Trail Runners

They should be especially concerned about trail access across private lands in places like the Crazy Mountains.

Unfortunately, the reality of it is most trail runners don't care about places like the Crazies. As with most other outdoor pursuits, 90% of them flock to the "iconic" destinations that are under no threat from the land transfer movement, and pay little attention to the lesser known lands out there. I think Patagonia's involvement has helped with this somewhat, but I still see little outrage or action in any of the trail running forums I've been involved in. Nice to see people like Mike Foote call out the community like this.

I would agree that most trail runners flock to popular areas that are usually already protected by some means. There are those of us; however, that think of chasing elk almost nonstop while running our public lands. This is especially useful at the later miles of a mountain ultra.
