Mouth call lifespan

You can soak them in mouth wash to help get rid of the latex taste. Between my elk and turkey calls, I just get new ones every year. How long they last depends on where you store them, how much you use them, and how many get lost in the woods. I wouldn't get hung up on buying new ones every year.

I've kept diaphragm turkey calls in the refrigerator for 5 years with no noticeable sound affects to them. Usually just rinse them in mouthwash shake a few times before putting in plastic container in refrigerator. Turkeys didn't seem to care. Primos and other mfg's love people that buy calls every year. I'm just not one of them.

Interesting. It seems I wear one out per week during elk season...but I bugle too much :)
