Saw this just now. Apparently 100+ Elk have been found dead around Las Vegas, N.M..

Ive seen other stories with a die off like this in the past and they are sometimes blamed on a lightening strike. An insect disease that can spread that quick and have that kind of effect is pretty crazy.

This as a recycled report.
Elk died from drinking out of a stock tank w/bluegreen aglae bloom.
I have seen a dozen dead from lightning in NM tho.

We had a big White tail deer die off in Idaho last year from blue tongue disease caused by a bug.

we have lost ~50 or so Antelope and some Elk between late last year and early this year from people planting Japanese yew around there homes.

This is an old story. I hunted a cow elk on this ranch in January. The good news is the elk have made a full recovery in the area since this incident.
