Not a super glamorous question- looking to get setup with "proper" cleaning rods and accoutrements. Used the Otis for awhile, then bore snakes. Looking to do it right and go with the cleaning rod.

Are all bore guides the same? Does it matter which to use? Any features between one or another that sets them apart?

Thanks!

Just ordered a Tipton set up.
Use a bore snake & plain old cleaning set ,carefully, til now.

I use some of the old Stoney Point bore guides but I don't think they're made anymore. I also have a generic Tipton set also. I don't think it's a big deal

never used one before till this past year. bought a decent tipton one, might buy something better next time around. Now I wouldn't clean a bolt action rifle without one. cheap tool to protect lots of money in rifles in my opinion

Thanks everyone. I didn't know if there was any advantage to a caliber specific vs. one size fits most. They don't seem very expensive, either way. I'll pick up what looks good, and go from there.

I just got a 30 cal as I have a 30-30 & 30-06.
Think I can stay off the edges with my 50 cal mz & shotgun easy enough still....lol
