Well, no longshots in Utah nor Nevada so I'm trying to cash my 3 Iowa points for a zone 5 archery tag. Many Hunt Talkers doing the same? I've searched some archives trying to estimate my odds. Thought I read a post somewhere mentioning 85%. Anyone have an idea? Put in a lot of time scouting this past March just in case. Thanks.

Based off last years draw odds, I'd say you're looking pretty good!
85% seems high.

423 applicants drew unit 5 with three points.
That is 423 of 560 tags, but that is from 1237 applicants.

Hmmmm nice chart but all it tells ya is the odds are somewhere between 50% and 100%.

They'd have to publish the point pool sizes to be of much value. That's what all the other states I apply in do.

That's all the info they give out. No way of knowing how many in that point pool drew. Looks like every other zone was 100% at 3 points but not zone 5.

All you can do is apply and hope you're lucky.

Lots of public land for Iowas standards and lots of good deer. Im not a trophy hunter but have seen some studs out there. Just like any public land the deeper you go the less hunters there are.
