Finally accepting that free handing binos is causing me to miss lots of game. I'm looking at the vortex high country versus the outdoorsmans medium. I was recommended the outdoormans by everyone but I'm cant see any reason why I would pay $400 more for a tripod that has almost identical specs... weight, compressed size, and full height as a $80 tripod. I used a buddies vortex and it seemed to work great. What am I missing?

Split the difference and go with a Slik 634 or 624 CF. The High Country is shaky with<5 mph winds.

I have slik as well and really like it. I noticed in one of the latest bag dumps on Youtube that Randy is also a fan.

Seems like the Silk 700 titanium is a better value. It's a few ounces heavier, a third the price, and gets good reviews.

Nevermind. Amazon has the weight listed wrong. It's about 6-7lbs, not 2.2 lbs as listed. Disregard.
