NRA Warns Hunters to Prepare for War

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me.
I cannot rest from travel: I will drink
Life to the lees: All times I have enjoy'd
Greatly, have suffer'd greatly, both with those
That loved me, and alone, on shore, and when
Thro' scudding drifts the rainy Hyades
Vext the dim sea: I am become a name;
For always roaming with a hungry heart
Much have I seen and known; cities of men
And manners, climates, councils, governments,
Myself not least, but honour'd of them all;
And drunk delight of battle with my peers,
Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy.
I am a part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethro'
Gleams that untravell'd world whose margin fades
For ever and forever when I move.
How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnish'd, not to shine in use!
As tho' to breathe were life! Life piled on life
Were all too little, and of one to me
Little remains: but every hour is saved
From that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things; and vile it were
For some three suns to store and hoard myself,
And this gray spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond the utmost bound of human thought.

This is my son, mine own Telemachus,
To whom I leave the sceptre and the isle,—
Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfil
This labour, by slow prudence to make mild
A rugged people, and thro' soft degrees
Subdue them to the useful and the good.
Most blameless is he, centred in the sphere
Of common duties, decent not to fail
In offices of tenderness, and pay
Meet adoration to my household gods,
When I am gone. He works his work, I mine.

There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail:
There gloom the dark, broad seas. My mariners,
Souls that have toil'd, and wrought, and thought with me—
That ever with a frolic welcome took
The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed
Free hearts, free foreheads—you and I are old;
Old age hath yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks:
The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends,
'T is not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.
Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson

What is a common sense gun control law that we do not already have? And how will it keep people safe?

I live in one of the top 10 highest gun owning counties per capita in the US, and we had zero homicides last year. And any real crime that we do have is nearly 100% methamphetamine related, So I would be interested to know what laws we need to keep us safe…

^^^^This

Common sense is not so common anymore.

Keep thinking your a dem or rep instead of American and see how good divide and conquer works.

Dems and Republicans as a whole are both worthless. The real evil we should be concerned about are the "progressive liberals".

The Dems and reps for the most part are only concerned about reelection and putting a buck in their pocket. The radical left "progressive liberal" appears more concerned about destroying culture, morality, and anything else they deem unacceptable (see antifa, black lives matter, etc)

....and the right wing wackos are only concerned with raping and pilaging our country for the sake of $$$ and stuffing their pockets no matter the carnage they leave behind in terms of land and human beings.

I completely agree with the first half. Yet strongly disagree with the second. Progressive liberals have been a defining feature of our great country since it's inception. The Founding Fathers were their days "progressive liberals". TR was certainly a progressive liberal. Progressive liberals ended slavery, and granted women the right to vote. While I don't agree with many of the current PL ideals I certainly don't view them as a real evil

The real evil is wealth and greed, it's corrupting nature and the ability to buy power and influence at the cost of our democracy.

I'd venture to say our definition of "progressive liberal" varies greatly...

This is interesting and hilarious at the same time. America is one of the most dangerous countries in the world, right next to Syria and Mexico. No other country has 30,000+ firearm deaths, 70,000 firearm injuries a year and think its alright. But I'll assume most of you think its okay because most of those deaths are from urban minorities. You think the 2nd amendment can't be touched? ya it can. It's called an amendment. Slavery: Amended Prohibition:Amended. You want to know why England, Canada, Australia etc. have strict gun laws? Because when bad s**t happens you lose the privileged for the greater society. Last year you guys had roughly 477 mass shootings in 2016 and so far 206 in 2017. Do you not see the problem here? wheres all those "good guys with a gun"

I just sent the NRA a letter telling them that I am a hunter and past member. Also, will not send them another penny until they publicly state that they are against the privatization/transfer of public land that is managed by the federal government. I suggest others do the same.

Good for you but it won't ever happen so you can keep your money. Nothing the NRA can say or do from this day forward will ever change my opinion of them. Dropped my membership in the early 80's and it's the best thing I ever did.

LOL, I spilled my coffee when I read this. Most folks would list college degree, marriage, and children as the best things they have done since the early 80's. I don't think a NRA membership/nonmembership would crack my top 1000.

Letting go of that Blockbuster membership was probably a close 2nd.

Has nothing to do with their organization or its goals. Just like bha won't come out against the NFA or draconian gun control in CA, IL, MA, NY. Or speak out against any new hun control efforts, it's not their fight, not what their members donate money for....

Sooooo, are you saying the NRA only gets involved in 2nd Adm./ gun rights issues?
