anyone work with gunsmiths who are familiar with vintage shotguns? I have a "restored" 1904 Ithaca 16 gauge that could use some experienced hands to help me out. I see Diamond Gunsmithing in New York is the go to for Ithaca but I'm not sure a restored gun is worth the $ of having them work on it.

Maybe a dumb question, but have you called for an estimate? Sometimes the best at something aren't any more than an average smith. Also, being familiar with something should cut down on labor. Just a thought to consider.

I haven't contacted them yet. They have prices for standard services but not those that potentially include mechanical work. I started a quote process but it is one you mail with the shotgun for their inspection. Right now it is getting an idea of potential gunsmiths

Gotcha, wasn't trying to be a smart@$$, but sometimes its easy to assume somebody is expensive, it might surprise you. But it certainly would be smart to get another opinion/quote.
