I don't know how to take advantage of a point system, never used 1.
I do think if you get an early start chances are better.

I have two boys and purchased bonus points for both for years. The downside is both eventually turn 18 and are off to college. You are the stuck continuing to buy points at the adult price and the kids can't use them until after they graduate. I fronted some serious cash today to the great state of CO and it made me think about it...

In NV a person must be at least 12 years old to get a hunting license and must be 12 prior to the opening of the hunt. So since you must have a license to get a bonus point you can not get a head start on bonus points for an infant.
