WY region H

Anyone hunt region H in October? How crowded is it throughout the season?
See many elk in the northern area near the wilderness?
Was looking at drainages around mosquito creek and looks good on the map.

Appreciate any one that's been there telling how they liked the area.

I hunted elk in unit 98 (deer unit 138) last season. I caught a few fleeting glimpses of mule deer butts in the timber. I can't honestly say if any were bucks. There were several hunting groups, but getting away from people was not difficult. Most of them had horses and went several miles into the wilderness. I was up there in late September, before the general elk tag-holders showed up. If I were hunting in September, I wouldn't hesitate to hunt deer where I was (Big Sandy area). Although, as a resident, I could (and would) just as easily go to the Wyoming Range. I actually saw more deer than elk. Although I HEARD more bulls than I saw deer. I'm 99% certain there was at least 1 grizzly in the area. Some of the piles of bear poo I saw were WAY too big to be black bear.

200 tag drop there as well. You won't see huge numbers in much of Western WY. But most of the mature bucks should be around.
