Really digging a load I got from another site. Work up in your own rifle! CCI primer, hornady brass, 180 NP seated as far as mag allows, 57 gr R17. No pressure signs and getting 2840 ish out of my 22" barrel.

One was a Remington 700 ADL with the 22" barrel and the rifle I use it in now is a Ruger 1B single-shot in 30-06. Either bullet works great on both game and is extremely accurate. I'll see if I can find a picture of a group with it. That's chronographed speed also, not a guess. The 1B Ruger has a 26" barrel which explains the greater velocity.
Exact same load I use on three different 30-06's and it suits all three about the same. I'm pleased to see that more people are using R17 now. I have 2 pounds of it and have been hard pressed to find published recipes though my books are about 3 years old so maybe there is more on line at some of the shooting sites.

Everything will be alright in the end. If it is not alright, then it is not yet the end.

If you check Alliant's website they have published data for RL-17 with most popular bullet weights for an '06
