I'm trying to plan a trip to Georgia to get a jump start on my turkey season. Anybody ever hunted down there and have any advice on anything

I'm no Georgia expert but I have hunted deer while visiting family. If I was strictly hunting turkeys I would look at the Oconee National forest and surrounding WMAs. They don't have a fall season but I have seen a ton of turkeys while deer hunting in that area. If you go further south you will increase your chances of seeing a hog if thats of interest. All of the coastal WMAs have good hig populations. If you go further north and get into the mountains there is surprisingly good trout fishing for bith wild and stocked fish. Also up north there are some huge wilderness areas in the Chattahoochee National forest. I think the Cohutta wilderness is the largest in the east. Spend the money and get a WMA stamp it generally better hunting and fishing. The regs are different for each wma so make sure you do your homework. Good luck.
