Hey all, I'm looking to bowhunt elk from a tree stand for the first time this year. Where I'm at in Utah, the archery elk units that are close to home are not open bull units. Which means you can only whack a cow or a spike. The season typically starts mid August and runs till like the second weekend in September. The weather is typically hot in the day and can be dry, or can have some rainy spells too. I'm just wondering if any of you Utah boys have had success from a tree on this hunt and where you set up as far as water holes vs. trails vs. wallows... etc etc. Any tips from anybody on early season tree stand hunting elk will be much appreciated!
