Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

New Howa's

Randy's prototype - a Howa in 7mm Hunt Talk Improved with a 26" carbon wrapped ultra-super-slim tube; all weighing in at 4.3 pounds! :)

Every Howa has a "sub" MOA accuracy guarantee? mtmuley

Page 5 of the new Legacy Sports catalog says, " Howa rifles are guaranteed to deliver sub MOA performance of 1 inch or less at 100 yards with premium factory ammunition. "

correct! any rifle sold from 2017 on will have this guarantee

Guarantee or not, they shoot great! This is my last group yesterday, Howa Multicam 6.5 Creedmoor, Hornady ELD-X, 300yds, no wind, bipod...

The "Long Range" rifle should be chambered in proper long range cartridges. mtmuley

????... or more eloquently put as "should be offered in a more diversified selection". Nothing wrong with either of those cartridges as an effective long range cartridge...

26 inch would best be served in 7mm R.M. or 280ai. The 280 AI would be the coolest, near 7mag performance better magazine capacity. Kind of 7 hunt talk's big brother ;)

the howa long rage will start out as a short action platform.

Long range for what? A bigger .30 than the .308 and a 7mm are better choices than what Howa is offering. Go "Long Range" or don't. mtmuley

Did you look at the specs? Based on those, I'm guessing 'long range' means it's for targets far away. Matt also said it will start out as a short action, as in, 'more to come'...

Heck, if thats the case you might as well offer it in .50 caliber only... Point is most people think that 1000 yards is long range enough and those cartridges are certainly good enough to get there with out breaking the bank with a limitless supply of "cheap" match grade ammo. Most people shooting past that are most likely going to "pony up" for a custom gun...

The difference between shooting 1000 and 1500+ is like a guy peeing into a toilet from 15 feet away. Sure... you can still hit the toilet and brag about how far away you are, the size of your "equipment" and how much more skill is involved... but your still going to pi$$ people off because your still going to get pee on the floor no matter how good you are...

Fair enough. Marketing with catch words sells rifles. Even to shooters that can't hit the toilet. I like the Howa action. I know the rep watches this forum. mtmuley
