As the chill of winter is now upon us and we are entering my least favorite time of year (after most hunting/before most fishing) I'm looking for a recommendation for a good book to read to fill the void between my winter sessions at the reloading bench . Mostly I'm interested in finding a book concerning wildlife/environment/forests in pre-columbian North America or the effects of European colonization on North American wildlife/environment/forests. Thanks in advance!

I would suggest going through the book threads. Lots of good reviews in there. Top of your list should be Last Stand by Punke.

Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose

Hunting Trips of a Ranchman & The Wilderness Hunter by Theodore Roosevelt
