What is the relationship between the two? I know people hunt cats with dogs so I assume wolves could run cats off of a cat kill, but do they? Or do they avoid each other? Or?

Just curious.

Goes both ways. For the most part the wolves run lions off their kills but eventually that lion has to eat so he stands his ground. Multiple wolves vs 1 lion doesn't usually turn out well for the lion. As for that article I'm sceptical. Who said wolves don't kill eachother. The one that was eaten a covered that sounds like a lion but the others I'm not so sure.

Here in NW MT, researchers have documented a lot of friction between the two. Lions will kill wolves when they get them alone, then piss on their heads. Wolves will kill lions when they outnumber them and when the cats can't get up a tree. I interviewed one logger who returned to his operation to find that a lion had hid under his log skidder overnight while the wolves tried to get at it. It's a jungle out there.

It's simple really.
