Just wait til they bump into another hunter in the field:
Guy 1: "I don't get why I've seen so many other hunters out here, and I haven't seen an elk all week! I can't believe I waited 16 years to draw this tag! "
Guy 2: "Well, it's about how I expect the leftover list cow hunts to go. I figured I'd get out one more time this season so I just jammed down to CPW and picked up the tag, never hurts to have more elk in the freezer! I figure I won't see anything, but hiking with the rifle beats sitting around the house, amiright?"
Guy 1: "Um.............what do you mean 'leftover list'?"
Guy 2: "You know, the ones that don't take any points to draw and always have leftover tags. Wait, hold on, did you burn 16 preference points on this tag?!"
Guy 1: "Um......"
Guy 2: "Hey buddy, you don't look so good, you look a little pale, maybe you should sit down. Why are you grabbing your chest? What? Heart attack? Do I need to call the paramedics or something?"
