Late season Wyoming Cow Elk 1-2-14

Agreed, the late season cow hunt is a favorite one of mine. Single elk in open country are overlooked even more often, but they are there. Good hunt.

Brand new to the forums here, looking for this exact info. Also brand new to elk hunting. Is Unit 7 still a good draw choice? It looks like by the Wyoming F&G data there's a lot more applicants there in the last few years?

There is nothing any more fun than late-season cows. Buzz is right about the open country. It is amazing where they are and you had better be able to shoot at least 300 yards, or you may well be left scratching your head. A large part of Wyoming is like that and some people that don't realize it and go out there without doing their homework, are left wondering what happened.

Tough animals in tough country.

It looks like there was enough snow to have brought them out on a jet sled. A sled is the best money that I ever spent for late-season cows. All of the meat can be taken out in one trip.

Good hunt.
