any suggestions for 1st rifle season in Colorado? What to expect from the elk?

If you're headed to the 1st rifle season this coming week in CO, you'll probably be blessed with quite a bit of action at least in the western part of the state. The series of rain/t-storms/snow that rolled through this past week or so should help quite a bit with activity and vocals...
Well I'll be honest with you, if you dont knock one down in the first two days your chances drop big time as they move on to private land quick!
Now if you have access to private you should have a good hunt, but Colorado gives out way too many tags IMO. At least as a resident your only out $46 bucks. I feel sorry for the Nonresidents that come here and pay $550
