  • Hey Dhosera - I saw a previous post from 2019 about CO 76 Archery. Did you end up hunting that season? Would love to hear your overall experience if you did. Ive been eyeballing 76 since I started archery hunting in 75/751 quite a few years ago, absolutely beautiful country in september.

Yes I drew Early Archery in 19'. Tough/Physical hunt with low deer numbers overall, but ended up taking a good Velvet Mulie. Absolutely Stunning country. Actually went back in 2021 where my now wife and I Eloped & got Married in those very same Mountains. 76 is a special place.

Right on! But wait you might be on to something there.. You're telling me if i tell the old lady were eloping there i now have a pack out buddy?! This might pan out. Jokes aside, congrats on the wedding. I couldn't think of a better place to elope. What dates did you harvest? Ive been caught up on muzzleloader or archery. There's something just something about blackpowder but archery dates are much more appealing.

I did Archery for Many Reasons. Early Start! You can only shoot 100yds with a open sight Muzzy anyhow, where I can shoot 75 with the bow. 76 was silly in the non-wilderness areas Overrun with Hikers/Bikers/ATV's. I made the mistake of trying that 1st only to bail after 2 days of that BS & hike into the Weminuche to get away from the ATV's and killed on 9/3.
Dhosera - I see you were planning to Archery hunt area 47 Wy Pronghorn in a post from 2017. My daughter and I are looking at 47 as an option for archery 2022. We have 7 points each. Did you hunt it? How did you do? Any advice you can provide. Areas?

I cannot sit in the sun in a blind for a week straight hoping for a shot so I chose to spot and stalk. The other 2 sat blinds and each had a shot opportunity or 2 but wiffed. You'll have the place to yourself bowhunting. People will show up day or 2 before rifle opener to scout and it will be an absolute zoo opening morning. like shockingly overrun with people.

Great info - thanks. Where did you find the most pronghorn in the unit. North, South, East, West. I have every water hole marked on Onx. There is alot of water holes. Will be there the Saturday 13th of August to scout and set blinds. Plan is to sit water. Stalk a big one if we see one in a decent spot. Thank You!

We had great success finding goats everywhere in that unit. No particular area was better than any other. Bow hunting you'll have the place to yourself. We did the same thing, marked water on OnX and then checked them out for nearby goats & sign before we sat them. Bring a book and a comfortable chair. O and one of them water squirt bottles with a battery fan attached. Thank me later :)
