Secretary of Interior took a stance on public land. Looks like we have someone with the intrests of the public at the helm!

Quite a contrast from some previous Secretary's huh?, like James Watt and Gayle Norton.

Great to see strong support from inside the administration. Once the presidential office changes hands the secretary post will as well in all reality. I don't know how much power the secretary has to stop an action from the senate though. Also remember that the forest service is not part of the same department. All in all it's great to hear someone speak out like this but we still need to be involved and vocal.

I think in part this has been prompted by the latest piece of wisdom to come from Senator Bishop.

Since the idea isn't going over well at the state level, he'll set precedent somewhere "less controversial".
Glad to hear Jewell is opposed. Unfortunately she's only Secretary until the new president appoints someone else.
