Just found this site and I like what I see.
A little bit about myself; I'm nearly 50 and I've been hunting since I was 10. Nobody in my family hunted so I was self taught  I began taxidermy at age 12 after buying a book on the subject and that's all I've ever done ( except for being a beach bum in Hawaii for a few years in my early 20's)
Grew up in Northern CA but after I married a Mexican I moved down to the border so that she could be close to her family ( if mom's happy, everyone's happy) 25th anniversary this year.

The desert has been good to me in many ways, but especially for my buggered knee that doesn't like the cold. I can play in the cold, just can't live in it.
Being a full-time taxidermist, it's hard for me to close shop for a week during peak hunting seasons. For this reason I do most of my long hunts in Hawaii and NZ where hunting is year-round and I can close shop for 2, 3, or 4 weeks during the summer months and not have to think about work. I do apply for western states biggame hunts, but mostly for just the very best hunts. If I'm going to close shop in the fall it's gotta be for an awesome tag.
I mostly hunt AZ being that it's my neighbor. I've got 15 bonus points for deer and you can guess what unit I apply for.
My hunting partners have been my family; wife, daughter and son. My kids have hunted with me since they were in diapers. Hunting javelina in AZ was a family tradition, but alas, my kids have grown up and their jobs don't allow them much time right now. My daughter works 6 days a week and my son is "hunting" in Afghanistan.
So.... I'm reconnecting with old buddies and making new ones.
Except for where required by law, I don't hunt using guides. I'm not afraid to venture into the unknown and go DIY You can check out my other post'
I'm not opposed to a beer or two after a hunt but I don't like drunks, especially on a hunt.
My ears aren't virgins but they are not garbage cans either.
I hunt with any legal weapon, but I prefer archery.

Cheers,
Breck

Welcome. Your couple other post look pretty sweet so Im looking forward to more

Welcome!! I have loved the pics you shared of your hunts to Hawaii and NZ. Do you have any of your taxidermy that you'd be willing to share?

Welcome to HT. Have you done any Coues hunting in AZ with archery or leftover tags?

Welcome to the chaos, glass eye. Look forward to some of your stories and pics. Hope you don't mind, but the taxidermists get asked a lot of questions by folks in this site.

Welcome to HT. Have you done any Coues hunting in AZ with archery or leftover tags?

For the last 13 years I've been applying for 13B and not wanting to sit out on the draw if I kill a buck in january, for this reason I haven't participated in the archery deer in a long time. Really want to draw the strip tag so that I can get back to coues in january.
I have gone a couple times with leftover rifle tags but both times it was unusually hot for november. My kids had a golden opportunity on a really nice buck but they choked.
My daughter got a dink but it was on her birthday so that made it extra special. It broke off the forks on the left side when it did cartwheels down a rocky gulch.

I'll try and put an album together on my profile.

Some sweet looking mounts there, good job and thanks for sharing.

Welcome to the site. You would be welcome anytime in my camp, but I'm only there to sleep so it wouldn't be much fun. Nice work on the animals, too by the way. My son just returned from Afghanistan in June. I hope your son fills all his tags before the season ends. God bless him and all those that serve.
